I was scanning over this brief article that said it was supposed to be coming out soon. Do you think that this will convince those who are "on the fence" about things? Do you think it will prevent any "potential truthers" (as Muertos and Alphstyle talk about in the other thread) from not falling down that path? As far as I know, WTC7 has always been a bit of a weak point for debunkers, even Edward himself states:

"In fact, when pretty much everything else was debunked, the center of 9/11 Truthers rested on the idea that Seven World Trade was a controlled demolition. If the big conspiracy debunkers can't prove them wrong, I doubt I can".

But I feel that's probably because there's not very much evidence available, so it's easy for CT'ers to make up plenty of theories... but really hard for debunkers to address these claims. Anyways, how do you think this new NIST report will affect the truther movement, if at all? How do you think it will help debunkers deal with WTC7?

I think to a certain extent you'll still have truthers for two reasons:

1. The accusation that the investigations have not been conducted as a legally considered public investigation would be.

2. People stand to make money off being truthers, and as we've seen too much of what money touches becomes corrupted. Many of them who are making money off it aren't interested in the truth.

You sure the article you saw was recent, Sil? I hadn't heard NIST was doing another report but could be wrong on that.

The hard core truther movement will remain unaffected, as they wrote off NIST years ago when the first preliminary report on the main WTCs came out. At most it will be more ammunition for debunking, but considering most truthers are still screeching about theories that were debunked in 2005 as if they were new, a new report will just be business as usual for everybody.

I was just scanning through the BBC after coming home last night, and stumbled upon it... I'm fairly confident it was recent, but let me see if I can find it.

Oh my, now I got egg all over my face. Yes, it was indeed an old article. :(

Shows how much I'm up to date on all this, haha! In my defense it appeared underneath the "Most Popular Stories Now" tab and it was 2am. Well, nothing really constructive can come out of this now... feel free to delete this thread if you deem it necessary Edward.
