Level: 1 CS Original | I was once again reading the Daily Mail today (yes, I like to torture myself) and in the comment section of one of their "articles", someone wrote the infamous "TV puts you in an alpha state so that you buy stuff." (=Mind control) I tried to google more information about this, but all I got was conspiracy theory websites which I didn't even bother clicking. Anyone got more information on this? (This is one of the things that Icke and Jones claims is true btw.)

Level: 12 CS Original | There's no doubt that infomercials are on when insomniacs are half awake, or in the alpha state. I suppose a program could put you in the alpha state by having you get very relaxed. I'd say TV's best bet are those insomniacs at 3am.

Level: 9 CS Original | I stay up late pretty much every night, I have never felt the urge to buy something off the television. I suppose it's possible that being tired just lowers your judgment and before you know it your house is full of shakeweights.

Level: 6 CS Original | This was first mentioned by Herbert Krugman: http://www.thedryingroom.com/tv/Brin%20Wave%20Measures%20of%20Media%20Involvement%20-%20Herbert%20E.%20Krugman.pdf They, of course, don't "make you buy stuff" but shift you from a critical state in a more relaxed, imaginative state. Whether this works better at night than during the day, I have no idea, TV space is fucking expensive either way.

Level: 12 CS Original | CyborgJesus, by TV space, do you mean the cost for putting a commercial on TV? It's rather cheap through Google.

President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho: porn star and five-time ultimate smackdown wrestling champion! Level: 150 CS Original | The only reason there are infomercials on late at night is because the broadcast rules were changed to allow broadcasting all night, however it was cheaper to allow someone else simply to pay to broadcast, instead of paying them. Originally channels had to sign off, typically at about midnight; a few still do, but it's more profitable to allow infomercials. If an item is on an infomercial, it's probably because it's too shitty to sell to anyone who isn't a loner, alcoholic, or unemployed.
