Level: 3 CS Original | Some religions like Nepalese Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism will latch onto a random child and declare that she or he instantiates great "spiritual" authority (as an avatar of a deity or the next lama, say). You even find that happening in two of the gospels to the baby Jesus. But until yesterday I've never heard of a case where that has happened to an unconsenting adult. Benjamin Creme, a mental patient I've heard occasionally on talk shows over the past 20 years, has built up a cult which has crowd-sourced the task of finding someone who resembles Creme's fantasy about the "Maitreya." Somehow the crowd has decided to victimize an economics professor with that title even though he disavows the whole exercise: In Internet Era, an Unwilling Lord for New Age Followers It has even gone into "Life of Brian" territory:

Level: 3 CS Original | Unusual for a film of that era, it shows Spartacus as a nervous 40 year old virgin, and Antoninus as a Roman aristocrat's sex slave.

Level: 3 CS Original | Actually the welfare state takes the role of beta males, whom women don't want to put out for any way if they can help it. That frees women to seek insemination by alpha male cads without having to marry them. So in a way conservatives have a point about how the welfare state "destroys the family," the family defined as women who have to marry and bear the children of Mr. He'll-Have-to-Do.
