Let's be civil here.

No need to insult one's life, Nanos

No need to throw homophobic insults, Matt.

>>Hello, you must be new.<<

That doesn't change how conversations stop being productive when the mud starts being slung. Just because this forum isn't civil all of the time doesn't mean you can't try. Try here, please. :3

On the other hand, this is just a forum. :/

"Try here, please."

I do, when people deserve it.

Nanos doesn't. He's a passive aggressive nutball only here because he got banned from TZM.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tit_for_tat</p>

I was spoon fed this my first 15 years online with the best/worst politicans and lawyers the world has to offer, so I'm quite at home trading insults if need be.

Its one of the things I did like about the TZM forums, its attempt to reduce the need to throw insults at each other, though it can be entertaining at times and gives everyone a jolly good laugh.

With an IQ of 200 (Or maybe its 300 now..) I'm not easily offended..

The reason I'm here is because here happens to be the only place I've found that has got a half decent number of intelligent folk able to talk about important society changing things in a manner above that of a complete moron.

I've 2,000+ other forums I'm a member of if I wanted to.

I can quite manage to be productive with mud slinging, it doesn't put me off at all :-)

I can ignore if I'm short of time, or respond if I feel I have a particular clever way of making someone look even more stupid than they did themselves.

Shut up. Go build a car that runs on air. :)

I'll be in my lab, trying to grow replacement limbs from organic goo and the amputee's DNA.

You know, if this was any faster, it would be like IRC!

Oh wait, you can't.. it says:

Stupid slow modern technology!

One runs short on time when trying to get out of being unemployed..

You know, the world doesn't fix itself either..

Sadly its got to be electric rather than air powering the cycle in the UK to qualify for it as a cycle, rather than a car.

FX [ wonders what the minimum time limit is between posts.. ]

I suppose its my own fault for being able to type 70wpm.. (I first learn't when I was 14, it was cheaper by £1 to get a keyboard without markings on the top..)

It depends on how "violence" is measured. Physical violence has, and most likely will continue to decrease, at least in industrial and economically stable countries.

On the other hand, if one includes non-physical violence, ranging from coercive poverty and strategic financial submission in poor countries to violence against thought in industrial countries, whether used in prisons, media, schools, governments, then the decrease of violence is probably smaller than expected. Some might even agree with Foucault that violence hasn't really decreased, but that the subjection of humans just occurs on a more sophisticated and subtle level, but I haven't really made up my mind about that point yet, nor do I care that much.

I would tend to agree with that view.

Hence the modern term (Is it modern?) wageslave.

Evidently people with IQs of 200 can't see big, green, stickied threads.

But please, start using IRC instead of the forum. I can ignore you there.

I'm not used to this modern inefficient sticky system..

But thanks for pointing out where it is.

Now if only you archived the IRC in a forum format, it would be easier to read it later.

Thats what the forum needs, an ignore feature!

It could also do with an invisible feature too..

Interestingly its more efficient on the whole to just ask someone who knows where something is, than to spend time looking for it when you don't know where it is.. (Or even if it exists in the first place..)

Search tools on forums/etc. can often be awfully useless for finding out information like this, which is why a live chat system is so much more efficient if its part of a site.

I would suggest giving folk the option of splitting the site into a forum part and a chat part to solve this issue. (Not that anyones ever listened much to my suggestion to that do, NET/EOS did have it for a while, but have taken it off their site, so now its harder to find stuff, grrr.)

I would suggest that shit is fine and if you want to chat go to IRC like everyone else instead of dreaming up "improvements" that have no use whatsoever. Why do you need to be invisible? There is no list of active forum posters and no one cares that you'd be online anyways.
