After the 1930's when most of the world went to paper the CT went to the Centrel Banks are controled by the Inernational Bankers (i.e. the Rothchilds & co.). Maybe Peter Joseph thinks he is ahead of the curve. | |||||

In the World War I era, both during and after, the big CT was that Jews controlled most of the world's finances. After WWII when overt anti-Semitism fell out of favor it gradually changed to "international bankers control the world" or the sci-fi analogue, which is David Icke's reptilians. I think Rothschilds still get mentioned because they're an old money family that used to have a lot of influence (not so much anymore) and their name can be mistaken for being Jewish. Merola is just parroting old theories, probably without realizing what they really are, because Peter Merola is not nearly as smart as most people think he is. The advantage of casting the Federal Reserve as the boogeyman today is that you'll automatically get buy-in from the right wing/militia type CTs who distrust any form of federalized authority, and they're also the prime audience of the Austrian economics bullshit that Glenn Beck, Gordon Liddy and other right-wing commentators hover on the fringes of without ever explicitly endorsing. | |||||

Edit: Not that it matters, but I always thought that they actually were a real Jewish family and not just one of those "They are in a position of power, so therefore they are Jewish!" type of things. | |||||

They're almost all dead now, so anyone who brings them up with modern conspiracy theories, I tend to cast off as an idiot that didn't take the time to actually see if these people were alive.
