So yeah, I'm still pretty new here, and I keep my mouth shut most of the time in order to understand the general tone of the forums here.

Anyway, I've followed and read about 9/11 conspiracies for a few years now, but I've never really watched, remembered, and documented any of these conversations. The bulk of them has been me arguing with my nutter brother (who claims Alex Jones is a stealth Jew, whatever that is).

So a guy I know on Facebook starts posting a bunch of crap about WTC 7 being demoed -- dumbassery at its best, I know. It's positively amazing how his arguments parallel exactly the same things I've seen here. I won't go into a copy-and-paste session with them, but as far as it goes:

1. Assertion stated (demoed, near freefall speed, a few small fires, little structural damage.)
2. I refute (significant damage, massive fires).
3. Responds with sheeple, do your research I've done mine.
4. To me, it seems that someone who states that the building fell at freefall or near-freefall speed and who has done research ought to know two things: the gravitational constant and the potential energy of the building. I asked him the latter.
5. Responds with sheeple, sheeple, you're a brainwashed Marine (I served from 1993 - 2006).
6. Restate the question with the caveat that watching YouTube isn't exactly "doing research".
7. Sheeple, sheeple, brainwashed.

I simply don't understand these guys sometimes. Anyway, I figured I'd tell someone who gave a little bit of a damn. I hope my simple retelling of the story is clear enough to understand. It's just very strange how much of the conversation paralleled exactly what I've read here, Infowars, Prison Planet, etc.

Now he's on a quest to see how much he can talk to himself by making new posts every few minutes about how someone needs to name another building which fell from fire...thus, somewhat like a post I noted here a few days ago where some guy made up an imaginary conversation over on the Zeitgeist boards. The only way they get anywhere with anyone is by talking to themselves or in their echo chambers.

I'm very curious about these people's mentalities. I don't necessarily think they're all mentally unstable, although I'm sure some are. I think I'm finally getting a common thread among them -- victim complexes. But why? For what reason? I don't understand.

Inability to recognize incompetence in themselves, but also over-estimation of their competence.

An inability to differentiate between good information and bad is also a part of it. Usually a whole lot of other cognitive problems follow, like the inability to understand context.

A big part of it is emonion. Fear and Anger or the treggers. Then it becomes more of a addiction and it becomes hard the shake. I am still shacking it.

Fear does play a huge part in it, arrogance as well. You always want to see the secret plot/conspiracy, because you don't want to be another one of the 'sheeple'.

I suppose those are a lot of it, but why are their responses so uniform? I mean, you'd think someone issues a points paper.

I think many of them treat it like they treat anything they are a fan of, ever tried to argue with extreme fans of, for example, Star Trek or Star Wars about what is and isn't cannon? Its like arguing with religious people and conspiracy theorists, honestly.

I would agree with that. I also feel that the inpersonal asspect of the internet plays strongly. It becomes easy to come to believe that anybody who debunks CT is a idiot. At the same any web site that promotes a CT; you see them as a "experts". Take me and the Georga Guildstones; both Falkner and Muertos told that the site was based on non-since and in my mind I was convenced that they where mindless sheep. Looking back that web site is a joke; what make it sad is that the site has a clearly had Chirsten End Time theme. A releagion that I never really followed.
