And this, my friends, is an example of why scarcity and war will not cease in RBE.

That is, of course, unless you find a way to clone Mrs. Hayek.

Well, there are theories with a lot more detail, but I'm tired right now and am too lazy to search this shitbox to dig it all up. So I'll let you take this one, Matt.

Genogza,

Ed, I do see your point and I agree with you. I never pointed to money as something that corrupts and leads to dishonesty. That can be attributed to greed, and human nature.

If you read my carpenter example, you are left with someone who is wealthy in a moneyless society. Now consider there would be lots of other people all with their own individual talents all producing unique items. If there is no money then people might turn to crime in order to get it, since they might not have what that person wants for it. Or maybe they might start selling their bodies or something else that people like Fresco would class as abhorent behaviour.

And as I asked earlier, how would you make a film in a moneyless society? But you know this is still in the hypothetical scenario of having a technology that can create exact replicas, chances are that is so far in the future its not worth thinking about anyway and it STILL can't work.

In a society that is concerned with more than just finding food and making shelters all day long a moneyless society just isn't possible.

My point was about money today, as we know it will inevitably change and the system will evolve.

I agree but I don't see how it can "evolve" to the point where we don't have some form of money.

Speaking of "Sexbots" in a moneyless society.... that is actually a good example of why individual personalities would also be a unique valuable commodity, for lack of a better term. Even if you could create a robot that was very much like your favourite actress, then everyone could have one and it wouldnt be special. It would still be much more special to have sex with a real person and the real actress. People would still WANT that and therefore there would still be scarcity and therefore the society would break down. Fresco fails again.

The Zeitgeiters idea of education naively think they can condition all this out of people and while I agree with a certain amount of social conditioning the degree they are talking about is absurd.

Can we reach a moneyless society after maybe 2-3 more systems ahead, like we went from Feudalism to Democracy/Capitalism? Probably.

Can we do it right now? Nah.

@CyborgJesus,

Again, even then how would a moneyless society work?

I fail to see that it would ever be possible, unless you're talking about something so far ahead the population you're talking about have stopped thinking like humans because they are no longer recognisable as human as we would see it.

Once resources, energy, and utility aren't consequence free, there will be a need for money in one way or another. In Zeitgeist world, all resources are abundant and have no consequence. The most I see happening in the far off future is advanced desktop production where a good number of things around the house (including the device itself) won't have to be purchased in the traditional sense, but can be made right at home (you would still need to buy the materials needed to manufacture them though).

Ed, it's possible that we have yet to conceptualize the technology necessary. For example, perhaps we'll find a way to use the Force.

Hmm, but they still used credits. Damn.
