I was in a thread on another message board, where a poster commented that once web design got so sophisticated that even a total moron could make something that looks professional, he thought that nutcases would end up making very respectable-looking websites. To his surprise, it didn't happen. The nutcase websites still looked amateurish and loony. He theorized that they're just drawn to stuff like that.

About a year ago, someone directed me to Zachariah Sitchin's website (www.sitchin.com) about something-or-other. I'd never heard of the guy before, so I didn't know what to expect. But just looking at the site's design, I knew I was dealing with someone who wasn't firing on all cylinders.

The 'Educate Yourself' one isn't terrible... sure it's amateurish and not in the best of formats, but at least there aren't random gifs, stark contrasting text and background colors, and kung fu Alan Watts.
