Hello. I'm Wveth. You probably knew that.

I've been reading this 'ere site since 'fore there were forums, ayuh.

When I was about... oh... 14 - 15-ish, I was a bit of a conspiracy nut. Loose Change was the big one. But now I'm a rational human being. Hurray! (for the record, I'm 20 now)

I owe much of this to Conspiracy Science... so... thank you, website!

Also, I can't figure out how to get an avatar for myself here. Would someone help?

Welcome! I think there are quite a few people here who were CT's at one point (to varying degrees) so you're not alone in that regard.

I hope not, Sil. ^_^;

Anyway, if you hadn't noticed, I tend to randomly type in such a way so as to imitate an accent of some sort. In the above case, a Southern one.

I don't know why. It's just a random urge I can't resist.

STRANGE people, mainly. But I don't see anything in this introductory thread that would label me STRANGE; do you?

I didn't think so.

Sky, fine. And Wveth, you're skeptical of conspiracy theories. That's VERY strange.

The one CT I found myself in trouble with was JFK. I was tearing down 9/11 and the whole Illuminati thing that my uncle believed, mostly by drawing parallels with anti-semitism.

But I had never researched the JFK thing, so I couldn't comment. I learned a bit on that JFK thread that Mr. Wingnut (pseudonym) posted. I wanna git that thar book.

And Aaron's avatar is clever.

I want to believe that people in government didn't want Kennedy's ideas to see the light of day.

Eh, yeah. It's more of just wanting to know the government could pull off something so dramatic as to kill off a president and get away with it.

Same thing goes for wanting to believe Area 51 had alien technology.

I am pretty knowledgeable about the JFK assassination. The best book to read on it is Vincent Bugliosi's "Reclaiming History," which absolutely shreds ALL conspiracy theories regarding the assassination.

If you look at the evidence, it's clear that there's NO question that Oswald did it. That combined with the fact that there's NO evidence anyone else was involved, the conclusion that he did it alone is unimpeachable.

Happy to discuss this in a separate topic if you like. And welcome, Wveth.

Vincent Bugliosi... isn't there a conspiracy theorist with a very similar name who claimed that JFK was assassinated as part of a conspiracy? I might just be remembering wrong, but when I read that name I thought "CT", quick google says I'm wrong... but then who was this other fellow I'm thinking of? =\

Vincent Bugliosi was the former DA for Los Angeles. He prosecuted Charles Manson and handled several other high-profile cases. He spent 20 years researching the JFK assassination, and in no way can be considered a conspiracy theorist...in fact, CTs detest him because he tore apart all their theories.

The guy I'm thinking of was like, (supposed) Assistant something for the CIA and made his claims about 10 years after the event occurred. Is that ringing any bells for you by chance?

No.

Anyone got an ebook version of Vincent's book? It's not at the libwawy (I live in a tiny, tiny, tiny town).
