Let's discuss peak oil.

I'll start by posting someone else's argument:

That blog post sounds completely reasonable, even the part about conspiracy theorists or doomers having a somewhat useful role in society - they help us cover all angles. We can't have everyone thinking the same way - that's dangerous too.

I've heard from people that they're a good thing, but they're also a huge danger. Many dictators have been elected on the basis of conspiracy theories.

I wouldn't say they're a "good" thing - maybe more like a necessary evil, as long as they don't gain too much irrational support.

I don't understand why we just don't go nuclear.

I agree, domo.

Which is why I never lump all CT's into one specific group, because there's such a big difference. Just for example, there's quite a difference between those who believe that 9/11 was an inside job(Most of whom profess freedom and a strong distrust in government) and those like the neo-nazi and KKK groups who are pro-violence and want all people of color eradicated from the US.

Being in a field where I deal with people of mental disorders daily, trust me, there's a huge gap here. Naturally there are going to be skeptics(even if they are wrong), but like any group of people, there's 2 sides to the coin. Just like you have religious, and radical religious.

Many racists claim the same thing.
