I don't think their is enough academic research out there to call any internet group a internet cult in my opinion. The research that is out there is geared towards cults that one meets in the flesh and blood. Some of my thoughts as to why TZM is a cult are based on academic research about cults in general that is already out there but the majority of my decision for calling it a cult wouldn't be backed by academic research. | |||||

Cult indoctrination has been proven effective on all walks of people, and technically its just as effective on those who are educated or non educated. In fact most cults tend to have a high level of intelligent people. So the label of only the stupid members exhibiting cult dogma or behaviour is actually a false premise. In my opinion for what it is worth, I would say that it is more likely those members who are looking for an answer to lifes problems, and have a need/desire to explain existance via an absolutist idealism [Moral] who might exhibit or be susceptible to form such behaviour. | |||||

Level: 5 CS Original | I wasn't going to say anything but you can see how effective a cult is for example because Vasper may not be with TZM anymore he still believes in a RBE and continues to say it's based on science when their is no science that can support a RBE or that this can even work. Anticultist had posted up a documentary about Scientology and I believe some of the EX members still believed in Hubbard and the ideologies of Scientology, they just thought Scientology was corrupt in itself and that's why they left. So yes these EX members still believe in XENU and still call Scientology a science when their is zero science backing it up as it's based on pure dogma in their belief like a RBE. So people who leave cults may have some ideological remnants left over as well from the previous cult they were involved with. Having these Ideological remnants left over from previous cult is in my opinion one of many obvious signs that one may have been in a cult. This also shows how ingrained their indoctrination may have been as well as other things. | |||||
