Looks like direct democracy bullshit to me.

We believe that when Americans participate directly in the nominating process, we will have a positive debate that leads to a qualified, representative choice.

LOL, fuck this site.

After further reading, it appears Americans Elect is the brainchild of some libertarian nutbar at the Cato Institute.

In its initial filing as a corporation, in its first six months' original IRS disclosures, and in its initial website registrations Unity08 claimed a primary business address identical to the business address of a political public relations firm working for Republican clients, Peak Creative Media, run by the former adviser to Roger Ailes of FOX News. That same individual is also the person who is the registered owner of the Americans Elect domain names.

This might be bordering on conspiratorial thinking, but here's what I think Americans Elect is doing:

I think they're trying to siphon off as many left, center-left and centrist voters as they can. Instead of voting in actual elections, they will vote in this stupid online thing and think they're actually accomplishing anything.

Thus, more votes for the right, center-right and teatards.

Am I right? Who knows, but the whole thing stinks worse than a week-old Hot Pocket trapped under VTV's manboobs. According to one of the links, Americans Elect being involved in influencing the political process isn't legal and Americans Elect also keeps their funding a secret. Like I said, something stinks.

Plus is they are really trying to get a Candidate on the Ballot. Whoever they get will most likely get a personally driven candidate like a Ross Perot or Ralph Nader. That will get some press, take some popular votes and in the end will not really matter.

Not sure it won't really matter in the end, Nader cost Gore Florida and we all know where that went.

It will only matter if the election is close. I don't think it'll be that close.
