Level: 0 CS Original | I can't claim to know any more about this than you do, but I learned in macroeconomics that the Fed reacts to and interacts with the market on a very deep level. It adjusts rates, and gives certain institutions preference. Sorry I can't be more specific, it's been a very long time, and I never fully understood it to begin with. Either way, people tend to overemphasize it. The Fed controlling/adjusting interest is not the same thing as the Fed being able to do whatever it wants with rates; it doesn't have complete control. I think it needs a lot more oversight, however. | |||||
