Paid Disinformation Blogger Level: 14 CS Original | The book was awesome. The problem with all the movie versions is that they try to bring it into the present (1953 version, 2005 version etc.) or tell some other story other than the one Wells set out to tell. The original was written in, and set in, the late 1890s. Personally I think a story of aliens invading earth in the late 1890s is really fascinating. No one else seems to, but I do.

Level: 0 CS Original | I agree, I wish then movies were set in the 1890's, would of given the given the movies such much more character, because of the settings, rather than being that it just happens in modern times. For example, in the books, he said it was cannons that sent the pods to earth, so much better than just lightning bolts, that, *sigh* sent aliens to their spaceships beneath the earth. Also H.G.Wells created the fricken heat ray, thats awesome.
