Pro-tip of the week!

When caught in an every expanding web of your own ineptitude, divert attention from the matter and scramble for an ant-hill for the moral high ground. How do we accomplish such a feat?

Step 1) Move the goal posts! Pretty hard to be proven wrong if what you've been trying to prove moves faster than the speed of light. Let say you made a sweeping generalization about a group of people based on anecdotal evidence; what you do is quickly scale back on your assertion and claim that your statement was really supposed to be just about the anecdotal evidence itself! I mean, who cares if the context of the conversation really doesn't support such a stupid move? Or that what you said was really, pretty obviously not a qualified statement at all. You know, fuck it. But what if someone identifies this move?

Step 2) Claim you were just half-assing things from the get go. This way you can save face with all your adoring fans but claiming that behind your thin veil of inept postings is really a massive iceberg of intellectual power! You know, internet forums are just forums, why should you be bothered to ever say anything remotely intelligent? Your previous statement that was delivered as fact? Naaah that was just an off-the-cuff remark that was MEANT to be delivered down to the plebeians in all their intellectual inferiority. Of course, who should ever be held accountable for the things they say? So what if you were wrong? Don't admit that, just proceed to step 3 if the accountability police persist

Step 3) You're really talking about a totally nebulous standard by which you are better than everyone else! Yeah, I mean, who cares about intelligent comments when what you are after is the value of human souls in comparison to one another. The statements you made are really a reflection of your non-empirical superiority to everyone else. You are the shining beacon of light among an army of unwashed philistines! Your being wrong or proven to know nothing about the subject at hand doesn't matter cause, baby, your soul is hot stuff! Never mind that by lying about one's own abilities and refusing to admit being wrong reflects rather poorly about what you are. These fools have no right to judge you! But what if they continue to call you out?

Step 4) No one likes these guys anyway. If they don't "like me" its because they suck so bad that you didnt have to even try and pretend to like them. Even though it wasn't a popularity test and rather a question of logic, you can still pull this little card and walk away feeling pretty big about yourself. Don't worry that these people actually do probably have a lot of friends and meaningful relationships. They don't agree with your half-assed arguments and ridiculously superficial evaluation of the importance of aesthetics in the corporeal sense. You are too important and too glorious to have to deal with unlikeable trolls!
