Could a Progressive Tax System make the Rich/Wealthy Business Owners who own and run the means of production could higher taxes on them make the Rich Business Owners Poor or cause them to run out of money why or why not ? The reason Im asking this question is because during World War Two and after the War the Tax Rate on the Rich/Wealthy was over 90% than it became 70% ? What Im really trying to ask is could a Progressive Income Tax make all Incomes equal ?

Karl Marx and Frederick Engels

Manifesto
of the Communist Party
1848
II -- PROLETARIANS AND COMMUNISTS
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

Why on earth would you want all incomes to be equal? That is communism. If earning millions makes my income get cut down to an equal amount as poorer people how on earth is anyone ever supposed to get out of poverty?

You don't help poor people by making everyone poor. That said I don't neccessarily think that taxing people with alot of income more is a bad idea, just not to the extent that the government gets 90% of their income.

That's not communism, that's forced egalitarianism in capitalism, and it doesn't work by lowering every income to the lowest possible level. It works by creating a progressive/high tax on the rich. Even with an income of $10 million a year, 90% would mean you'd have $1 million left over, that's hardly dire poverty, but yes it's exceedingly high.

You can't possibly make all the incomes equal, and Marx never suggested it under the progressive tax. The idea is to leverage in favor of the working class against the upper classes.
