People under 18 don't pay taxes, do you expect children to pay taxes?

Surely that would still leave need for more than just over 100 million to be taxed... I mean taking this into account I just find it hilarious that Americans bitch about taxation, that's all.

I was being facetious. They say things like "only 1/3 of Americans pay taxes" but fail to mention that 2/3rds don't qualify; there's an average of 2.01 children per female adult in the US. The math works out quite well.

Oh okay. I just took a look at a population chart and it looks like only around 60-70 million Americans are under 18 - that would be around correct?

I think it's closer to 100 million now, it's expanding pretty quick. I know this generation is the largest since the baby boomers in the US.

Also you have to consider the religious leadership community, the unemployed, the disabled, the extremely elderly (also an extremely large number) that pay little or no income tax.

Yes very correct and presumably those on social security/income support, etc,. Me and a friend were discussing this over dinner last night and at the time just looking at the number it was kind of a 'what the fuck' situation. The number makes a hell of a lot more sense taking all that into account.
