The government takeover of General Motors was of course one of the greatest assaults on freedom in America history. Sure, it saved the American economy in the middle of a deep crisis, saved a bazillion jobs, and catapulted GM back into a prosperous and innovative future.... but what did we lose in terms of Liberty?

Of course, Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul have long been vocally opposed to such tyranny (and I swear it has nothing to do with all of those union members that would have been unemployed).

And it looks like tyranny is set to expand again in Rand Paul's hometown:

General Motors received approval Thursday for $7.5 million in state tax incentives to refurbish its Bowling Green plant and to possibly add "a new vehicle product program," according to state documents.

The plant, which dates to 1981, builds Corvettes. The company plans to invest $131.1 million in the site, according to the state.

A GM spokeswoman could not immediately be reached for comment.

The project would add 250 jobs that, with wages and benefits combined, are valued at $42 an hour. A condition of the tax incentives is that GM maintain employment of at least 449 people at the site.
At this point we can only hope that this is premature propaganda from the statist media. The people of Bowling Green have suffered long enough with those high-paying secure jobs with benefits. It's time that Liberty finally prevailed, once and for all.
