It's just a thought that I have been having lately, what if The Zeitgeist Movement, asked or demanded money to subscribe, or if you were already subscribed you pay a monthly subscription to continue to stay on the site, would people still be with Zeitgeist?

The Zeitgeist Movement prides itself as being a free internet speech forum and movement etc, and it's clear that the people in this movement have a very loose grasp of the reality of money and it's systems, would they question the amount of money being obtained by the movement, or blindly follow it because, hey, it's Zeitgeist.

Not saying that I have found evidence of this, or they might ever do it, (probably not either since they pride themselves highly on this), but would people start to question, and maybe start conspiracies against their own movement?

They would rationalize it, just like they do Fresco charging 300 bucks for a pack of DVDs or Merola making money with the stock market.

What exactly is in this pack of DVD's that makes it $300?

Or is it just literally DVD's?

Its literally just DVDs of shit you can find for free on YouTube.

There was that list of those Zeitgeisters who donated like 300 bucks to read less than a page's worth of a blog, so yeah... I'm sure they would pay up.

I don't think it would hurt them at all, it would keep lurkers out and create a stronger bond between the loyalists of the movement. It's a common tactic to test compliance and demand some form of investment (money, time, public support) that can be used both as a sign of respect towards the supporters and as a way of removing "noisy" critics which will obviously refuse to make such commitments.

Given the doubtful integrity of TZM, I'm actually surprised they haven't offered some form of membership deluxe yet.

If I were a Zeitard, I'd be demanding to know where the money is already going. Much less where required funds were going.

But that's me.

I know a few guys who would welcome it, they think the movement shouldn't be open to everyone - just the most useful and capable. When I point out that they are neither useful nor capable being journalists (and crappy one at that) they get angry. Oh well.

'just the most useful and capable'

Is that saying that they themselves think they are useful and capable, I actually doubt that no-one on the site as got a pHD, or a doctorate, maybe a few dozen have passed a college degree, but none have actually got a decent relative degree to what future they want to create.

It's just the blind leading the blind.

Zeitgeisters like talking about changing the world, not actually doing stuff. It's similar to people who always talk about success, but never try anything that could make them successful.

If they could further this dream by paying for it, I'm sure they'd do it. Hell, the most idiotic projects (VTV being broke but needing a high-tec computer, this education blog thing, TVPs movie) get funded, that's just proof of an unsaturated market.
