Rand Paul will be speaking in Frankfort today as the guest of David Williams in support of a federal balanced budget amendment, by means of a Constitutional Convention. There should be lots of talk of cutting, Liberty and tyranny, a good time for all.

Interestingly, Phil Moffett is opposed to this, as he sent out an email to supporters this morning. It appears that he's afraid of what kind of devious rewrite of the Constitution that could take place:

Asking states to call a federal constitutional convention is fraught with peril. First this has not been attempted since the Constitution was passed. There are not any established protocols or limitations that can be placed on the convention, therefore the entire Constitution will be open for modification. I do not have confidence in today's politicians to do the same level of work our Founding Fathers accomplished in the 1780's.
Whereas Phil is a bit restrained, the good Teabagger folks at Take Back Kentucky (who previously wanted the woman who was viciously curbstomped to be arrested) are pretty direct in their belief that this is a devious plot for a San Francisco liberal/statist/collectivist re-write of the Constitution:

For those that have the time please view this YouTube titled Beware of Article V; it is in 4 parts. Remember our Founding Fathers met to just Amend the Articles of Confederation and instead adopted a completely new Constitution. Today it would seem unlikely that individuals such as the Founders would find themselves in a position to craft a NEW Constitution for the United States of America. In fact the Ford Foundation (no longer associated with the Ford Motor Company) has a NEW Constitution ready to go, as I am sure many other organizations do as well. Here is one analysis of this NEW Constitution in which a pretty scary picture is painted.

Take Back Kentucky morons are hilarious. You might bump into them at Wal-Mart telling people Kentucky needs to create an economy that can be totally free from Washington while at the same time paying for his groceries with food stamps.
