Skeptic Project

I have thought about this for a while now and I think I'm going to take a break from debunking conspiracy theories for a little bit.

I'm stretched pretty thin these days. I'm working on a master's program, have various research projects going on related to that, and am now working on 3 books in what little morsels of "spare" time I have. This site and the ongoing fight against conspiracy theorists is just taking up too much of my time. Lately I've felt compelled to push back against every CT pipsqueak who throws himself in my face, and I need to get out of that habit. I've been at this for over five years and I just...need a break.

I also think I've been taking CT's and their idiot responses too personally. Five years ago I would laugh when people called me brainwashed, sheeple, a CIA agent, COINTELPRO, misguided, etc. Now it just pisses me off. I don't need that kind of negativity on a daily basis.

I will also say this, without putting too fine a point on it. I'm somewhat uncomfortable with the personal-attack angle leveled against some of the Zeitgeisters lately. You all I know I oppose Zeitgeist, its ideology, its conspiracy theories, and everything it stands for. I will continue to do that, and I continue to share the substantive critiques of the Zeitgeist films and the Zeitgeist movies. But the whole "VTV is fat" and that sort of stuff, I believe, dilutes the focus of our criticism against this fulsome and dangerous organization. This isn't a defense of him or his actions in any way, nor is it a criticism of anyone on this board--I just think that, for me personally, I'd rather stick to substantive criticism of the Zeitgeist movement and other persons and organizations that spew the brain-corroding poison of conspiracy theories at the public.

I'm quite sure I'll drop in now and again, and will probably be back at my former level of activity eventually, when at least one of my books is done and I have more spare time. Until then, take care, keep it real, and don't give these conspiracy idiots an inch of ground.

Can't say I agree with much of your post, but that's cool. Any substantial criticisms of TZM's ideology and movies has already been done. Nothing left to do but have a little fun at the expense of Zeitards. Beating dead horses is boring as hell, unless its funny.

If you take a break from debunking, especially CS in general, you won't hear a damn thing about TZM. Nothing, nadda, zip. When I took a break I realized that TZM really isn't even on the level of Scientology or Raelians. Nobody talks about it. Nobody knows what it is. Nobody cares to talk or know about it. This probably isn't going to change. TZM made a teeny tiny blip on the mainstream media's radar after the Loughner stuff, but it didn't go anywhere and the media has already moved on.

So, I wish you luck. Even if I think you're wrong!
