I honestly do not know much about it. From what I can tell, it's not some kill switch like in Egypt. I can only give my impressions and I just don't know much. I read the article and sounds slippery slope-ish to me.

Re-read it...it sounds like 'hey, let's prepare for the possibility of cyber-attack', which is a real possibility. The argument presented against it in that linked article is very much slippery slope, which is a logical fallacy. Thus, I don't give this particular article very much weight. And I was hearing the same thing in 2009, that somehow Obama would just turn off the internet and it didn't happen.

Plus, they present it as a 'march towards socialism' as well, which is another red flag of having an agenda to push, and thus not presenting anything objectively.

A MUCH better article on the matter, thank you Elvis. :) Has pros, cons and much more objective criticism. Not scare mongering (well, except the article's title a bit, wish that was different...), but still, doesn't reek of pushing an agenda.

This is why I try not to read comments. It's been around for less than 3 decades and wasn't in widespread use until the mid 90s, or so, I think. That guy's an idiot and sounds like a classic CTer with the 'WAKE UP' line.

Sometimes I laugh, other times I just go straight to rage. That guy also seemed to be implying the slippery slope fallacy in regards to this bill.

It does seem to be a favorite logical fallacy of theirs. Many did the same thing with the PATRIOT act. For or against it, it hasn't been as abused as CTers and others claimed it would be. That said, the slippery slope can be so convincing because it raises concerns, sometimes legitimate ones.

I'm sure they have actually been right about small things here and there, and the Nostradamus crowd loves to shoehorn his predictions into current events so he's 'right'. And you have vague guys like Gerald Celente who also are made 'right' via shoehorning by his fans.
