Is your unitarian church very nondescript? Every one I've seen is just a plain metal building with a couple windows, if that.

Interesting...

So what exactly do you "do" there? At least at yours.

Personally I'm an atheist, and I'm comfortable with it because I don't need anyone giving me a set of guidelines to tell right from wrong so I think all religion and New age stuff is woo.

I find depression is alleviated when you lead an active lifestyle, exercise and having a family does wonders.

I can only speak for myself ofcourse, but if Buddhism makes you feel good and you're not harming anyone else, absolutely go for it.

Reading about it and putting it into practice in my life where/when I can works for me. I'm also a strict pacifist, so I wouldn't dream of harming someone else. It did also help when I started exercising more, and I'm now an avid cyclist...it also helped me lose a good 15 pounds.

The Dude: And, you know, he's got emotional problems, man.
Walter: You mean... beyond pacifism?

I like reading deep new-age occultism/philosophy texts because there's so much density to everything they say. I spend a few hours most months at the theosophical society bookstore in the centre of melbourne. I remember taking a friend that's a medical student there, and he got lost in the medicine section for hours - he wasn't expecting to find actual medical books in an occultist store lol.

The thing I like most about new age spirituality is that the values it dictates could serve as the basis for 'our new world', and not in the sense of a new religion - just ideas that unite us (in a similar way to how a salute to a flag or something like that unites a people). The UN has adopted a lot of Alice Bailey's ideas - notion of one world, etc, etc,.

Like making money by selling books?

Well, almost all the new age books I've bought you can get legally for free online. I just... don't like reading e-books.

Princess Diana was a 'new ager', so I'm proud to be. ;)

I guess maybe what attracts me to it and Buddhism is the fairly strong emphasis on peace and non-violence in one's own life. I know NWO Florist will call me a hippie for this, but I do believe in the quote that "There is no way to peace. Peace is the way."

I'm also glad NWO Florist set me straight and did tell me that TZM has advocated some forceful methods for their RBE future, which I did not know, so now I don't feel quite so bad talking about this since I know some of this New Age stuff is part of TZM.

Bring on the mocking!
