I can't stop posting pictures of poop, what the fuck is wrong with me? Level: 5 CS Original | I'd agree with that being part of the reason. People often push their work onto somebody else and ultimately gets pushed onto the government to handle. CT's blame the government for everything yet they are their own biggest hypocrite for doing absolutely nothing. I also think it's a lack of education. The people who listen to Alex Jones lack the critical thinking skills to think for themselves therefore buy into someone who "knows everything". unfortunately our educational system in the U.S. is horrible and I'd say their is a link between people who have less education or critical thinking skills who believe in AJ versus people with good critical thinking skills and a good grasp of reality. It's this lack of a good education that fuels people for Alex Jones to prey on. @Snob Goblin obviously Dr. Peter Joseph Merola did

Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | I've noticed a distinct correlation between the inability to accept personal responsibility and conspiracy theorists. Namely, needing an external enemy to blame for their own failures in life or their lack of desire to try and better their situation.

Level: 5 CS Original | My CT room mate admitted that he doesn't know anything about history, but believes in CTs because "they have to do with corruption" and that's fascinating somehow. Well, I'd agree if there were any truth to any of them. I told him I didn't believe Pearl Harbor was false flag and he said back to me; "I wouldn't be surprised, read Operation Northwoods!" Oh, the Operation Northwoods that wasn't even thought of until 20 years after Pearl Harbor? Yeah... So, I agree. You're more prone to believe CTs if you don't know jack shit about what you're talking about.

Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | It seems to border on nihilism, which is interesting because they often want to "save" humanity. Also "Operation" Northwoods was never an operation. It was a memo. Nothing more.

Level: 5 CS Original | "It seems to border on nihilism, which is interesting because they often want to "save" humanity." No they don't. They are just weak-minded lunatics who are at odds with the real world because it's too uninteresting or unsatisfying, so they lean on conspiracy theories. After all, a world with shape-shifting aliens and all that other garbage is much more interesting.

HAIL HYDRA Level: 6 CS Original | When I was presenting my paper at a conference last month, the discussion ogt on the topic of correlations between feelings of helplessness and loss of control in ones own life and beliefs in the paranormal (my own paper was about paranormal beliefs among Americans over the past 30 years). What was interesting was that an author of another paper there had touched on a strong correlation between people who feel as though they have no personal control over their lives and those who are likely to believe in paranormal phenomena (UFOs ESP, Clairvoyance, ghosts, etc). This may suggest that a similar correlation exists strongly for these same attributes and belief in conspiracies. As of now, most research in public opinion have focused on the very rudimentary statistical analysis of how widespread Conspiracy Theories are, but not on who is most likely to believe in them. The research firm I work at has actually floated a proposal to take up the study, and I think it may be really fascinating. Also, here is a paper that shows a similar trend between beliefs in the superstitious and those feeling as though the locus of control is outside of them: www.uwlax.edu/urc/jur-online/PDF/2004/stanke.pdf

Level: 3 CS Original | I notice the absence of "conspirator theories," namely, people who plan to do something controversial, and theorize about how others could learn about their secret project. "Damn, someone has learned of our plans to set up a global government! What can we do about it?"

I can't stop posting pictures of poop, what the fuck is wrong with me? Level: 5 CS Original | @Snob Goblin that's why you got to make those people fill out a application like their applying for a job before they move in with you and as well as you can do background checks to see if that have a criminal record/credit history and what not. @Kaiser Falkner Sounds interesting. If they feel they have zero personal control over their lives and therefore are more likely to believe in believing the paranormal then I'd want to see how much income this individual is making. I would guess they are not bringing home the bacon at all. Another factor would be to see if their married, single, divorced or whatever. Of course paranormal activity and CT activity are different and I could guess that the reason people who feel powerless yet believe in the paranormal is because they want to see something that doesn't "follow the rules" because it somehow gives them hope. Trying to correlate that mindset over to a conspiracy theorist who believe in such things as the 9/11 building did not fall by air planes but fell do to lazer beams in outer-space or Realienes are in the white house is a different mindset but would be interesting to see a correlation in somehow.
