Matt needs to listen to some Moonsorrow. I'm sure a 5-minute intro of the sound of fire crackling would put him in a better mood.

I'm not an anarchist, Matt. The only thing I ever said of the sort was I was bordering on anarchist in terms of social and civil liberties. I'm just a lot less authoritarian then most. As in let people live their lives if they're not harming anyone else.

But far from total anarchist. I honestly don't have much to complain about.

"As in let people live their lives if they're not harming anyone else."

Yeah, anarchy.

That's not anarchism, that's wishful thinking. Not to mention most people who espouse such naive beliefs tend to also appose all types of ruling authority, so if one does do something in this freedom-loving paradise, who will enforce the law upon them?

The world is far too complicated to be "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" even if you add the super-vague and naive subtext ", unless it 'harms' someone else." Whatever the hell that means.

Geno has expressed enough opinions on this forum for me to know his views are a mix of Libertardian and Green Party crap. Anarchist is a reasonable label, and he's used the term before being endlessly mocked for it.

He wants the government to take care of him, but he also wants government out of his life. Its a mix of stupid, irrational crap that makes me rage.

Wrong again. I said that I think government should step in for people who can't take care of themselves(kids/disabled/the elderly/etc.) Pretty much what we have now.

I also said I was a fan of the public option.

And this anarchist label is laughable. I never said anything about no authority or no law. I obviously meant within reason. And if I'm making you rage, Matt, then get it all out. Relax.

>>>The world is far too complicated to be "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" even if you add the super-vague and naive subtext ", unless it 'harms' someone else." Whatever the hell that means<<<

Victimless crimes, basically. I wouldn't go as far as to say someone should be able to shoot dope or smoke crack on the street, but our punishments for these people are a little excessive in my opinion. I've been working with these people for close to 7 years, and from my experience, I have formed an opinion that they don't belong in general population with the likes of rapists, murderers and child molesters. Which some(if not most) of them have been thrown in with.

But this is a story for another topic, and I apologize for derailing this one.

Yeah, anarchy.

Just to be fair, this doesn't even really ring true for Anarchism but is more in line with utilitarianism in the strain of J.S Mill. That doesn't mean its right considering that there are a lot of problems with this statement both on philosophical and practical grounds, but its not really anarchist in nature.

Who defines "harm"? You can harm me without dragging me out of my house and kicking my ass, or stealing my stuff.

It's difficult to assess where one person's rights end and another person's begins. All this stuff about "do what you want, just don't harm others" is more or less what we already try to do. Too bad it's just empty rhetoric.

Conspiracy Theorists win this hands down for me...theyre pretty much like the cunt who will never back down with their beliefs, will never read the counter claims and evidence and will always try to get the last word in due to their lack of self worth and knowledge about real life.
