I caught part of "The Walking Dead" last night, and I noticed how that and other zombie movies present elements of libertarian fantasies.

One, in a zombie apocalypse, the government collapses, and you don't have to pay taxes, obey government regulations or support parasites like welfare recipients or Federal Reserve bankers any more.

Two, you can acquire and shoot guns all day.

Three, the products of the collapsed civilization basically become natural resources in the commons, which you can turn into your property by mixing your labor with them. So, for example, you can upgrade to a better car than you could have afforded in regular life, simply by finding the key or hotwiring it, and driving it off the car lot. It doesn't violate anyone's property rights to do so, because the owners have already died without heirs, or a mechanism to reassign ownership; so you can help yourself to pretty much whatever you want.

Four, the zombie apocalypse tends to kill off men disproportionately because men try to hide and protect their women, especially the fertile ones, so it increases the supply of potential sex partners. That makes polygyny more feasible than in regular life.

Five, you can smoke dope, drink all the alcohol you want, and ingest your other favorite recreational drugs without fear of the now nonexistent police.

OMG don't ruin Walking Dead for me! It's like the only show I watch! :p
