May I make a suggestion? Avoid on-campus housing if you can, there's no reason to live in a dorm and share bathrooms with a bunch of sick bastards, instead get a shitty apartment. You'll save money, and freshman girls will think you're awesome for having an apartment. I know I'd think that. Just make sure you keep your shitty apartment's bathroom clean and girls will have sex with you.

Well, first of all actually being accountable for yourself is not at all the fairy tale you think it will be. Developing and maintaing relationships outside of the context of being able to go back home is no easy task, and you certainly begin to start to realize just how much your life is going to change. And no matter how smart you think you are, if you're at a really tough university, you'll learn that you absolutely suck. Theres so much more to school than knowing material or getting grades. You will have everything you thought you were stripped down and youll have to reconfigure yourself in light of that.

Also Omni, if you think you'll be one of the 73% or so that never finish college, don't bother going, but from your other posts, I have a feeling you really want to make it. I won't be easy, it won't be cheap, and you'll have to spend time working, not partying.

Sciences, definitely. I fucking hate Literature and English. I'm really good at it, but I despise it with a good and healthy passion.

There's plenty of people who hate what they're ungodly good at and love what they suck at. I ain't one of those people.

Great answers Omni. Also, you answered your second question about a major. I would probably do a BS in Biology with a BS or minor in Chemistry.

As Muertos said, take AP or IP classes, specifically Bio and O Chem.

You will have to take the MCAT, so I would prepare early for the examination. Sophomore year of undergrad, probably.

If your open to fields other than surgery, I would suggest neuropharmacology (sp?). A really cool field for both research and practice.

I would say what my english teacher told me. make sure you have a beginning, middle and end. make sure you get to the point and leave no loose ends in the 'conclusion' and also if it helps. write down the key points of what you want to say, and in what order as a barebones list and then fill out each point with what you find.

Try not to go off on a tangent (to lose track of your direction) of if you do, bring it back around asap.
