A few months ago I posted about a real life buddy I knew who's life was consumed with CT's.

It has gotten extremely worse.

This guy took his step kids out of school to homeschool them. Only problem is that instead of following the curriculum he has them watching CT videos.

This is just nuts.

I'm really fed up with the guy. Literally every subject we talked about, he had a conspiracy for. It was so annoying. Debating him is extremely frustrating, because he doesn't obey the rules of common sense.

He was telling me he doesn't believe any of our astronomers because there is no way they could have telescopes that can see into the past, but can't see planets outside our solar system. I tried to explain to him how telescopes work using light, and that its not literally seeing back into time. His response? "keep believing what they tell you".

ARRRGH!

Wow, seriously off the deep end... I would consider tipping off social services though, if he isn't educating his kids properly and showing them stuff like that, there's a good case to be made he isn't fit to have them. I know its harsh, but he sounds totally nuts.

Taking children out of school to indoctrinate them into conspiracy theories? Child abuse.

This guy sounds like he's crossing the line into being dangerous. Do you know if he owns guns?

Is there any way to make this thread members only?

Send a private message to someone you want to talk to, then add other members. It's the equivalent of a private thread.

That's pretty messed up. Have you tried explaining logical fallacies and cognitive biases to him? Might help *shrug*.

When I sold educational materials door to door a few years ago, I ran into a guy who rejected the US education system. He said he home schools his children because we don't teach the real history. Needless to say, my materials were of no use to him.

wow, that's really sad. i work in child care proceeding and what your friend is doing to his kids could be classified as emotional abuse and potentially damaging to their development...I would seriously consider a referral to Social Services.

I thought my friend was nuts!
