![]() Level: 3 CS Original | I wonder of this issue of Scientific American will discuss the doomsday beliefs promoted by Austrian economists. Everyone wants to privilege his own apocalypse while dismissing competing ones as irrational: Eternal Fascinations with the End: Why We're Suckers for Stories of Our Own Demise http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=eternal-fascinations

![]() Level: 1 CS Original | The article mostly talked about people in general and even some scientists. The only thing some austrian economists talk as far as coming to an end rather than a doomsday, is the Fed Reserve. Then you have some who argue reasons why it will benefit people if it came to an end.

![]() Level: 1 CS Original | Going by the google search, only a small few of Austrian economists are speculating on the U.S. dollar collapsing and what to do and what may happen if it occurs (mainly couple Mises articles and forum posts). I've even seen where some don't even know what will happen to the U.S. dollar in the future, while some just look for newer innovations and positive trends to emerge out of markets to the point where government monetary policies will become outmoded. But the "Austrian economists" term is too broad to box everyone in as being the same because even regular economists can be considered Austrian economists with certain things.
