Level: 5 CS Original | I was never into the more extreme CT's, but I was a Ron Paultard type CT'er before as many of you know. I find myself extremely annoyed at CT'ers now. From the idiots at work who spam my email with "proof" and "smoking guns" to a real life buddy who I am slowly loosing patience with. I find everything about CT'ers extremely annoying now! Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite, but dam I don't remember being this annoying.

Paid Disinformation Blogger Level: 14 CS Original | You were that annoying. All CTs are. I was also a CT. My big thing was the Kennedy assassination. (This was before 9/11). I was also heavily into UFO conspiracies. When I was in law school I even wrote a law review article that involved Roswell and other supposed UFO conspiracies (yes, I know it's a stretch to get those into a law review article, but I managed to pull it off). When I finished law school I began to look more deeply into these things and require evidence. I began to soften on the JFK assassination, and when I really delved into it I realized Oswald acted alone and the CTs were bullshit. I also gave up UFO conspiracies, and that's a big step for someone who has actually seen a UFO in real life. I was out of CT's by the time 9/11 happened, but I wonder, if I hadn't turned away from the dark side when I did, if I might have become a Truther. My UFO law review article is kind of fun. I had enough skepticism at that time to make it more of a joke than some pathetic CT screed. I've got a copy of it in .PDF, anyone who wants it, PM me.

Brainwashing you for money Level: 15 CS Original | Kepp we probably all believed stupid things at one time and we probably may even still do every now and then. I myself gave credence to CT's and allowed them to take up some of my own thinking time. I used to research them and annoy the shit out people I knew about them, I would be wanting to 'find the truth' asking people questions and showing them the 'evidence', to see what they had to offer in return. Like Muertos my biggest fondness was UFO stuff, though i never really hated on the government for them I always assumed the government were as stupid as everyone else about the matter and people gave them too much credit. CT'rs tend to ignore and deny evidence that does not fit into their world view with out really looking at it objectively, and they tend to accept evidence that fits into their worldview or they skew evidence to fit into their worldview. It can be difficult to accept you might have been wrong, which is why a skeptical mind is usually the best way to be because you can be wrong and not make silly leaps of faith.

HAIL HYDRA Level: 6 CS Original | When I was a really little kid (8 years old or so) i was already into the UFO conspiracy stuff as a result of seeing some nonsense on the History Channel. I would go from being really panicked about the stuff and then forget about it. I finally snapped after seeing Zeitgeist and then the 2012 hysteria. I seriously thought the NWO was coming in 2012. Later the same year I was diagnosed with an Anxiety disorder, my therapist and I talked about it twice, I then kind of realized how I had been suckered by Zeitgeist and I got pretty upset. Since then I have been pretty hell-bent on making sure no claim goes unchallenged when it comes to potentially harmful CTs. I never espoused these theories, I always kept them to myself. But now I'm pretty vocal on how absurd they are.

Level: 9 CS Original | I wasn't ever really a full blown CT'er. But I first encountered these common CT's around mid-2008. There was a person on this other forum I posted on and he seemed very intelligent and very convinced in the truth of these CT's. The 'debunker's' arguments were very weak compared to his. As a result I spent way too many nights tossing and turning and worrying over the possibility that he might be right. One of his posts, (and I'm paraphrasing) made me especially anxious... though I laugh when I think about it now. "Mark my words: There will be riots after Obama is inaugurated, martial law will be declared and people will be thrown into FEMA camps. There will be a nuclear or extraterrestrial false flag attack. Blackwater will make big headlines, and we will all be chipped." Part of me didn't want to believe it, so I kept struggling... even though part of me kind of did believe it. Then I stumbled upon this site in someone's signature... began reading the articles, doing a little bit of my own research here and there and as you can guess; I too find CT'ers very annoying.

Level: 9 CS Original | "That is sort of refreshing to hear. Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite. " There's no reason to feel like a hypocrite, people change. You should only feel like a hypocrite if you were say, a CT'er bashing on other CT's and CT'ers.

Level: 4 CS Original | When I was a kid I used to see specials about the Gray People and worry they would invade the planet. When I was a freshman in high school, my parents sent me to a Christian school where they taught we were in the last days and the rapture and the NWO were around the corner. Even when my parents pulled me out I believed in them (and didn't even believe I would graduate from high school. Ironically a preacher actually convinced me the rapture was bogus. I later went to a financial planner to set up an account. He was totally into Austrian economics and believed we were on the verge of hyperinflation and the US would cease to be. I actually bought some silver (not a lot) on his advise. Even though I sold the silver at a modest profit I am still furious about this. Who knows how many other people he is screwing with his nutty idea.
