Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | We already know PJ's Paultard past, but I was looking into this VTV guy on the ZM forums and it appears he too is a former Libertarian. Also, a far more serious one than PJ is or was. VTV/Neil Kiernan Stephenson has actually made it on the ballot in Michigan for the House it appears, although his campaign didn't seem to go very far: http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/campaigns/neil-kiernan-stephenson.asp?cycle=08 At one point he also had a campaign Website: http://web.archive.org/web/20080713030230/www.nks2008.com/issues.html</p> I'm just wondering how someone can make such a radical jump from Libertarian ideals to those of TVP.

Level: 3 CS Original | Ron Paul didn't fill the hole in his heart (or in some other part of his anatomy), but Jacque Fresco does? Actually I know a guy who went from libertarianism and Neo-Tech to LaRouchism, so these kinds of radical world view shifts do happen, probably for the reason Hoofnagle explores on his blog: Some people have a measurable cognitive defect where they not only can't detect their own incompetence, but they also have trouble recognizing competence in others. That makes them susceptible to adopting combinations of multiple crank beliefs.

Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | @atheist, Interesting. I had never considered an explanation so simple. It makes sense.
