HAIL HYDRA Level: 6 CS Original | I'm actually pretty upset about this, but I also know that this is going to fuel a lot of CTs in the near future. http://www.pcworld.com/article/202636/net_neutrality_deal_may_not_see_wider_support.html<br />
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/05/technology/05secret.html?_r=1&hpw Essentially the question is concerning so-called net-neturality which is the idea that no websites should have priority over others in terms of access, and that ISPs should not be able to slow access to certain services. What the Google-Verizon deal outlines is a management deal in which the exact opposite could occur, and where some companies could pay extra service fees to have their sites recieve priority. Now, a couple years back I saw a youtube video in which several people were claiming that the big ISPs were conspiring to turn the Internet into a cable-like situation in which people would have to pay for different tiers of the internet. This, however, comes into conflict with the fact that AT&T, one of the largest ISPs, is still sticking to the FCC process now. There is also a rising conspiracy from the right. John McCain endorsed a bill that called for the blocking of "government regulation" of the Internet. What he was refering to was the FCC proposed plan to regulate neutrality. This obviously only plays up to the right-wing talking point that all government regulation is bad, even if it is to gurantee equal access online. You know that this is going to start working its way into the CT circles about how the wealthy elite are about to close in on our internet OR how the government is going to seek more control over the internet and shut it down. I have my own concerns with this issue, but I'm interested to hear what you all think. Will this become a talking point for CTers on both sides of the aisle? Is net neutrality even a good thing at all? (SPOILER ALERT: I think it is).

Brainwashing you for money Level: 15 CS Original | Its starting already: http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f54/beginning-end-google-verizon-near-deal-web-pay-tiers-1300295/</p> This thread will ultimately devolve into speculative and assumptive reactions about it all. Prison planet havent yet made thread about it that I have found, but I am willing to bet any time soon theres going to be a big CT rising on there.

Level: 2 CS Original | I think this was even hinted at in zeitgeist addendum.........at the end when peter says we all have to protect the internet, I gathered that net neutrality was what he was talking about.

Level: 9 CS Original | But shouldn't the libertarian CT'ers be behind this one? As far as I know, it's sort of ISP's versus the FCC... and they wouldn't want that good for nothing government trampling over the rights of the corporations to screw over the internet, right?
