People interested in requesting accounts can now do so more easily than the past:

http://skepticproject.com/site/register/

Once someone requests an account, all members with 5,000+ points will be able to comment on the membership request, vote on it, etc. Depending on the final score vs votes, and also other stuff, the person may or may not get their account approved.

If you haven't registered yet, but are interested, please only register if you want to actually post or contribute, we had hundreds of unused accounts from people who said they wanted accounts, but never used them... why do that? What's the gain? Why be a tease?

After the new site was created, every person that had never posted or done anything was automatically banned.

the linked accounts are great for making a decision (twitter, youtube, facebook). Maybe we should institute this as a requested section

I think I'm agreeing with Kaiser. It would be good for applicants provide twitters/facebooks/youtubes, etc., and actually provide some info in the description.
