"I would recommend that NPR track 1,000 people or even 10,000 people and their stories so that the fog is cleared and the true Great Depression that America is in is revealed. It's going to get much worse and 6 people in one city is hardly representative of the loss of jobs and hardship in this country. I implore NPR to track 10,000 people struggling to survive and find a job in this current Great Depression. I have personally applied to thousands of jobs and I'm going to soon start a new career as a teacher. In my past I taught tennis, was a mutual fund rep, a web programmer (C and JavaScript and HTML), and started two high tech startups in Silicon Valley but failed to raise investment funding. Everyone I know has lost their job and I know of several friends who have had their house foreclosed."

I guess he listens to Gerald Celente, Peter Schiff, and other economic cranks.

That might be your problem, buddy.
Sure as hell not going to employ a guy who sends me a copy&paste application.

When I hire a person, I don't care to much about the application it's all about the interview. I've been known to hire people who I am able to get along with, who I think are team players, and whom I may be able to have a beer with.

I remember hiring a guy who only wrote on his application 'GIVE ME A JOB!', so I gave him one. Have to admit, he's the best person I ever hired.
