"The collapse of human industrial civilization is under way":

How does Ruppert differ from rapture predictors, Mayan calendar kooks and Austrian economists?

Why is he making a website for people to communicate and help each other with skillsets when the collapse happens, when according to his own theories electricity will cease due to oil depletion ?

The internet wont be there to communicate with if thats the case.

I have my doubts about this catastrophist belief, I'm not saying that oil wont run out, but I just cant see how its going to be soon.

Does this guy think its gonna be like mad max ?

Is anyone in the know about peak oil here? If so I would like to see an in depth counter to this because I am hearing a lot about it recently and it would be nice to see the statistics and counters.

Apparently according to these believers there are public figures and respectable people claiming its true ?
Though I am more interested in the details about why its wrong.

Ruppert makes BP's problematic oil well sound like that 1960's disaster movie, The Crack in the World. If BP gets control of the situation in a few days, Ruppert will find some other disaster to blow out of proportion as a harbinger of collapse.

As far as the oil leak accelerating peak oil, will it even have a huge effect? I know it seems like a lot, but we use a lot of oil too... so in the greater scheme of things is it really that much oil? Like a year's supply we're losing or maybe just a month or a week. Anybody know?

The world currently consumes 80-something million barrels of oil a day. The loss from BP's well amounts to random noise in comparison to that supply flow.

ah, AA beat me to it.

Here's some basic info from a very quick and careless google search.

The higher estimates suggest that 60,000 barrels per day are leaking, and we consume roughly 80 mil barrels/day.

EDIT: however, "NOAA pegs the leak at an estimated 210,000 gallons, or approx. 5,000 barrels, per day."

So, no one really knows at this point.

Regardless, it's gotta be cleaned up as quickly as possible. If only all of those resources in the Middle East were here to help us. Could you imagine if our military was assigned to help the National Guard maintain the USA? *sigh*

@aaron But Alex Jones would shit a brick if the military was assigned to "help".

One thing about this leak thing that makes my blood boil is how the workers have been treated.

Yeah, I can see that. "Army helping to repair oil leak? MARTIAL LAW INCOMING". So even the highest estimates don't even amount to 1/85th of our daily consumption, that's pretty crazy.
