Oh brother.

You know we don't get mainstream news here in the UK acting like this, or Glenn Beck on FOX. Its weird.

I've never heard of Dylan Ratigan, despite watching MSNBC all the time. Anti-FRS stuff is on the rise, but there's a reason that when countries follow proper Keynesian economics, depressions cease to happen -- even when Austrians deregulate other industries that cause major financial meltdowns like in 2007/2008. It's gaining traction on the far right, as well as gold standard bullshit too. If we have de-centralized banks and the gold standard, then they will be right, there will be large economic failures and panics once again, just like the 9 depressions during the time the US was on the gold standard and had de-centralized banks.

I'm having trouble seeing what's wrong in this video. What are the flaws in the scheme as explained by Ratigan?

Actually, my comment wasn't directly in regard to the video, I should have mentioned that, sorry. I was just speaking generically about anti-FRS sentiment, which I guess is sort of off topic. =X

I'd still like to see how they would get a gold standard to work in the modern world. Suppose you fly to a resort island on vacation, and try to draw some money electronically from your bank account in the home country -- but the bank on the island doesn't have any gold handy to honor your draft?

It's all good, Edward.

advancedathiest, perhaps they should stop going to islands and learn to appreciate the land and their family - 1850 style. ;)
