Assange could've gone to Sweden, answered the prosecutor's questions and then continued on his tour of talk-shows and press-releases in the time he's wasted fighting extradition. All would have been over long before the US could have made a case for extradition. Unless his reticence is because he thinks the Swedish prosecutor has evidence likely to lead to a trial of course. . . .

His rationale is that if he goes to Sweden, somehow the evil Americans will lock him up in Gitmo.

The guy pisses me off to be honest. All he released was a bunch of embassy cables that are embarrassing at worst, it looks to me like he just wants attention or he's one of those "OMG EVIL AMERICA" people who just want to hate on anything the U.S does

Julian Assange is a bit odd. When he did his book deal to write his own biography I think that kind of shows his character.
