Before he allegedly went on a mass killing spree Saturday, Jared Lee Loughner had photos of himself developed at a local Walgreens that showed him dressed in a bright red g-string, a Glock 9mm gun next to his naked buttocks, the New York Times reports.

Law enforcement sources told the newspaper that the photos, turned over by Walgreens, showed Loughner holding the gun by his crotch. It is not clear when the photos, presumably shot in a mirror, were taken.

The newspaper reported that the Pima Sheriff's Office said that Loughner had two 15-round magazines; a four-inch buck knife; a plastic bag containing money; a Visa card; and his driver's license in his pockets when he was arrested Saturday.

While Loughner was crazy, I really hate that various individuals have pointed to cross-dressing / his obsession with androgyny as evidence that he was insane.

Psychologists have shown that androgynous individuals are often more balanced than any other human beings on the planet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgyny#Gender_roles). Which would make sense, because a real androgynous person is right in the middle of the masculine -- feminine scale. One of my personal beliefs is that the integration of androgyny as a norm in society is happening right now, and that it's going to be one of those 'next steps' in human evolution - that we drop our black-and-white idea of 'there and men, and there are women, and that is all there is - you are what you are born as'.

That shit has to go, in my mind.

I wasn't surprised to see Alex Jones ranting on about him wearing 'women's clothes' as 'evidence' of his insanity. But it's just NOT evidence.

HAHA! Well we'll have to disagree on most of that - there hasn't been an American songwriter this good for a long long long long time. Before his debut full-length in September 2009, he had been doing community service for being caught at an airport with a taser. ;)

Well, not kidding. I actually don't like really much of any American music because of this fact. All the talent is in Europe (and you wouldn't believe, but, New Zealand), as far as the West is concerned.

I'd agree. Biologically, we are either men or women (it's fair to say that) - but that only goes as far as breeding roles, in my opinion. But psychologically most people identify with being entirely a man (you know, the Adonis complex) or entirely a woman (don't know what complex you'd call it). And THAT is wrong, and thank god it's dying. My favourite adage when I talk to conservative gay people is "the hunk is going to die this century". It's probably wrong, but I always die of laughter at the responses such friends of mine make.
