Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | I think it is a huge pile of steaming shit made by a richboy Paultard and his brother to make cash on the side off white males at that critical age when one discovers that life isn't actually fair after all. Not that the Merola brothers seem to have ever really faced that problem. As far as I can tell the silver spoons have never left their mouths.

Keep in mind that the movie started out as a free live show and became an online hit later. But I think it's interesting that the movie's animator, Eric Clinton Merola, who also apparently believes in 9/11 conspiracies based on this, doesn't have a problem with working on a promotional campaign for an anti-9/11 conspiracy theory book.

Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | "Keep in mind that the movie started out as a free live show and became an online hit later." Why? The Merola brothers lie about everything. It is pretty much impossible for me to give them the benefit of the doubt about anything.

Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | "There are old announcements online for the Zeitgeist live show from 2007, so we know it did happen." I'm aware that it happened Sky, my problem is taking Merola's explanation for anything at his word. Mostly because I don't believe a word he says as I have been given absolutely no reason to. My original post didn't address any specifics at all. Who cares about Merola's bad art school navel gazing crapola. Finding a free art show in NYC is about as hard as finding a young white male on the ZM forums. Clearly no one cared about him or his art show because it wasn't until he uploaded a conspiracy video to Google that anyone even knew he existed. I think Merola's goal has been money and fame, which as far as I can tell, his art show accomplished neither.

Level: 1 CS Original | @ Muertos "A lie from start to finish" -- are you saying he really didn't believe anything in that movie, or that he just took advantage of a hot-button issue to promote himself? In other words, was he just pulling everyone's leg, or did he just use the twoofer movement to cash in on it? Or did he just buy into all the CTer crap regurgitate it?

Paid Disinformation Blogger Level: 14 CS Original | @ Dr. Zaroff: I can't answer those questions. Does Merola really believe the conspiracy theories he's publicly identified with, or is he just pushing it cynically to increase his visibility? My guess is, probably a little of both. The 9/11 stuff in the Zeitgeist films is so old and hackneyed, even by Truther standards, that it's tough to believe an intelligent person could really hold those beliefs. So that may be an indication that he really doesn't believe them. However, the whole "Jesus didn't exist/it's the sun god" crap from Part I indicates that Merola is an exceedingly poor scholar and that his grasp of historical knowledge is totally defective. If you don't recognize bad history when you see it, you're much more likely to fall for conspiracy theories. So that could be an indication that he does believe them. What I think is beyond question is that, whether Merola believes the lies in his movies or whether he's just cashing in on them, he has used conspiracy to make himself a prominent person and to gain a public platform for his views on various things. He had no chance do to what when he was playing the xylophone or whatever that instrument was that he used to play. So, certainly he owes the entirety of his public recognition to conspiracy theories and conspiracists, which is why it's so silly when apologists such as Brenton (who seems to have left this forum) try to claim that "the ZM has nothing to do with conspiracy theories."

Level: 3 CS Original | @Ed, the hate mail and comments show that Eric has the same beliefs as Peter. He talks about Loose Change, religion, and the economy. There are also Bill Hicks references in there ("an economy that’s fake anyway"). But he also did that video for 'The Great Derangement', which would seem to violate his principals.
