You're absolutely right, Mike. The origins of the NWO theories are deeply rooted in Evangelical, but also anti-Masonic beliefs, largely within the United States. In fact, one of the first big promoters was the hyper-Christian organization the John Birch Society, which Alex Jones was a member of prior to making it big in radio.

As for Peter Joseph, I'm not sure what his deal is, at that time he also promoted Ron Paul. He seems to have abandoned conspiracy theories largely associated with the far-right, except of course for Federal Reserve conspiracy theories and 9/11.

In fact, up until very recently (the last 8 years or so), it was highly unusual for someone not to be a far-right, American, white protestant if they believed in NWO conspiracy theories. Largely because the belief like things such as the UN will be used as tools by the anti-Christ to take over the world, originate within the United States from believers in Dispensationalism. Even so, today most believers in NWO conspiracy theories are young, white, American males who think they are special because they have secret knowledge, after all they found some site on the Internet that shows THE TRUTH!.

And of course, as we all know, the entire world revolves around the United States and its sovereignty, and if the situation there in were to ever change, it could only be by evil shadow people working to destroy the Earth. That's essentially the mindset that created all of this bullshit.

@mikejohnson
While I do believe it is true that the NWO conspiracy theory is evangelical in origin, I think zeitgeist is merely Peter Josephs take on the theory as an atheist, In fact I believe the real significance of part one of zeitgeist is that he believes in the NWO but does not believe in Christianity, therefore he thinks people should get involved and stop the NWO and not wait around for Jesus to save them. If you think about it that way, zeitgeist seems less like a random attack on religion and more like and honest train of thought on peter Josephs part.

Don't get me misunderstood though, I still think Peter Joseph and zeitgeist are BS.
