I wanted to start a thread that shows examples of CTs accepting things that turned out to be hoaxes, lies, etc.

I'll start:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=457SoOWxc3c - Unsecured Coins 12

In this video, Alex Jones, Jason Bermas, and others accept an RFID tagging story at face value and run with it -- it turns out to be a hoax.

As an aside, a friend of mine has considered creating a blog where he creates pseudoscience and conspiracy theories out of thin air. He went a bit far with a draft article where he lied using heavy physics lingo (he has a masters). I didn't think it was a good idea because no regular skeptic - let alone a CT - could detect its fallaciousness.

In general, I don't support the idea of spreading more hoaxes or lies for any reason. It would be funny, though, if my friend made a fake journal article that proved a unique phenomenon... perhaps that cucumbers inserted into the anus cure fluoridation poisoning.

1. The very thought of CTers and idiots sticking cucumbers up their butts because they read it in an obviously fake journal article is hilarious.
2. It's so unique that it'd be easy to track its spread through the internet. Alex Jones may even talk about it on his show! Maybe Ron Paul would bring it up!

Actually, this is a really intriguing idea. Must... resist... spreading lies... about cucumbers.. in butts.. curing... fluoride poisoning.......

What is bad is to a lot of the CTers it is not about Alex running with a hoax; but that was Unsecured Coins was a "lier". Some have gone so far off the deep end; that because he was in the military that it was a "evil military plot". Yah in their minds there is no way that it could posably be a practical joke.

I remember when Infowars ran with that story that the digital converters had cameras in them to monitor people.

Christ-mythers are a good example. They keep saying things like that Horus, Mithra, Krishna, etc. were virgin-born, had 12 disciples, were crucified, were resurrected, yada yada yada. But not one of them has actually read the deities' stories where they do these things. Someone claimed that they did those things, and the CM'ers just believe it.
At my website, I'm offering $1000 to anyone who can find the story, or other evidence, for any one of the deities which backs up the CM'er claims. I have been posting this challenge on CM'er message boards, and e-mailing it to CM'er websites. Hopefully, that will get them looking for the evidence so that they can find for themselves that the evidence does not exist. I even just started a similar challenge for Zeitgeist, where they just have to back up half of the claims that Zeitgeist makes about ancient deities.
